Proud East brings the tastes and energy of Japan to London with a new Pop-up

Whether you want to connect with traditional culture, sample new, fresh flavours or experience a neon-lit night to remember, Proud has a corner of vibrant Japan to enthral every visitor.

Embrace the contemporary sounds, tastes and vibrant street-life of Japan this April and venture down the blossom-lined paths of Regent’s Canal to Proud East. With hands-on workshops, eclectic cinema and the delicate tastes of Japanese fine cuisine, Proud’s pop-up fuses Tokyo’s dynamic cultural hub with century old customs.

Combining national culinary traditions with the modern theatre of street food vendors, Proud East’s open plan kitchen will be taken over by one of the finest London restaurants, Tonkotsu, with a tantalising menu including fresh Gyoza, Crab Korokke, Chicken Kara-age and Tonkotsu’s signature dish, their intensely flavoursome and creamy Ramen.

COMEDY EAST

Proud East, Comedy East & PopUp Japan present a night of comedy with Japanese sensation Yuriko Kotani plus specila guests Dane Baptiste and Scott Capurro.

With accolades galore, including the BBC New Comedy Award, ‘one to watch’ Yuriko Kotani has certified her status as one of the best new comedians on the circuit. As seen on the small screen on Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central, the Japanese comedian uses her low-key outsider perspective and skewed logic to hilarious effect. She will join us at Proud East on May 24th. Come down and see what all the buzz is about.

Joining headliner Yuriko Kotani is Dane Baptiste. A regular face on our TV screens and star of BBC Three sitcom Sunny D, Dane Baptiste is a sure- fire crowd-pleaser guaranteed to get you howling. Touted as one of the most exciting British acts to break through into the mainstream in recent years, this is an unmissable opportunity to catch Dane on his accent to stardom.

Also on the bill is the inimitable Scott Capurro. This American comedian and Perrier award-winner is a veteran of the international comedy circuit, with countless appearances on television, film and radio. His razor-sharp wit, provocative style and astute observations have delighted audiences the world over. You will be safe in his expert hands.
